Option 1: Download the Xerox Smart Start Driver
https://www.support.xerox.com/en-us/content/143617
Once it is installed, it will take you to a page where it locates all of our printers (assuming you are on campus) and then allows you to install everything you need to use the printer(s) of your choice.
Option 2: Add network printer by IP address ‐ Windows 10
Using the Start Menu search (Magnifying glass icon ‐ lower left taskbar) type "Control Panel".
In the Control Panel window select Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window click on Add a printer.
Select "The printer that I want isn't listed - Add a new device manually”
Choose "Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings", then click Next. Select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port, then click Next.
Under Hostname or IP address: Type in the IP address of the printer you intend to connect to.
GUG Hall 3rd Floor: 172.25.33.78 Gug 211 (A&A Main Office): 172.25.33.159 GUG 317 (Academic Advising ONLY): 172.25.33.147 AERB 241 (AERB/Space Grant): 172.25.35.35 |
Note: this will fill in the Port name: at the same time with the same IP address, this is OK. Leave the "Query the printer..." box checked.
Windows should find the driver automatically. If not, you may need to download the driver (for that specific model printer) from the manufacturers website.
In the Printer Sharing window, select Do not share this printer, then click Next.
Optional: select Set as the default printer box. It's good idea to Print a test page, to confirm that it works.
Select Finish.
The printer should now show in Devices and Printers, and be selectable when printing from within documents, etc.
First, download the Xerox Driver:
Make sure that you choose your version of MacOS and then click on the RED BUTTON for “FILTER” your search. Download and install on your Macintosh (based on the MacOS in use).
NOTE: The process of having the software search for the nearest printer MAY take a while. If it seems to take too long, click on the button named “Printer not found”, and input the IP address of the printer (found below in Option 2), and make sure that you choose the proper printer protocol (which on campus will be LPC - Line Printer Control).
Next, install the Printer:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. You should see the image below:
Click the Add button at the bottom of the printer list, click IP button , then enter the printer information, using the following table as a guide:
Option | Description |
Address | Enter the printer’s IP address: GUG Hall 3rd Floor: 172.25.33.78 Gug 211 (A&A Main Office): 172.25.33.159 GUG 317 (Academic Advising ONLY): 172.25.33.147 AERB 241 (AERB/Space Grant): 172.25.35.35 |
Protocol | Click the Protocol pop-up menu, then choose a printing protocol your printer supports )see below): Line Printer Control - LPC: campus printers and print servers use this protocol. |
Queue | Leave BLANK |
Name | Enter a descriptive name for the printer (for example, GUGHALL, GUG211, AERB241), so you can identify it in the Printer pop-up menu. |
Location | Enter the printer’s location (for example, “outside my office”), so you can identify it in the Printer pop-up menu. |
Use | If this pop-up menu doesn’t display the appropriate software for the printer, choose Select Printer Software, then select your printer in the Printer Software list (HINT: Should be the Xerox Driver you just installed). If that list doesn’t include your printer, try downloading and installing the printer software (also called a printer driver) from the printer manufacturer. You can also try choosing generic printer software from the pop-up menu. |
Open a web browser and make sure you are logged into your username@aa.washington.edu account.
Navigate to the following page: myaccount.google.com
Select ‘Start transfer.’
Enter the requested information for the new account you want to transfer to.
Note: the transfer process takes upwards of 48 hours to complete. It is recommended to start the process on a weekend. You will receive an email when the process is complete. Once complete, a folder called "originating_account_name date time" gets created.
