On Macintosh
Step One - Download the Xerox Driver
Download the Xerox Drivers and printer installer utility, which can be found here:
Make sure that you choose your version of MacOS and then click on the RED BUTTON for “FILTER” your search. Download and install on your Macintosh (based on the MacOS in use).
NOTE: The process of having the software search for the nearest printer MAY take a while. If it seems to take too long, click on the button named “Printer not found”, and input the IP address of the printer (found below in Option 2), and make sure that you choose the proper printer protocol (which on campus will be LPC - Line Printer Control).
Step Two - Install the Printer:
Add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. You should see the image below:
Click the Add button at the bottom of the printer list, click IP button , then enter the printer information, using the following table as a guide.
Option | Description |
Address | Enter the printer’s IP address: For GUGHALL (Gug 3rd floor) use: 172.25.33.78 For Gug 211 (A&A Main Office) use 172.25.33.159 For GUG 317 (Acaedmic Advising ONLY) use 172.25.33.147 For AERB 241 (AERB/Space Grant) use 172.25.35.35 |
Protocol | Click the Protocol pop-up menu, then choose a printing protocol your printer supports )see below): Line Printer Control - LPC: campus printers and print servers use this protocol. |
Queue | Leave BLANK |
Name | Enter a descriptive name for the printer (for example, GUGHALL, GUG211, AERB241), so you can identify it in the Printer pop-up menu. |
Location | Enter the printer’s location (for example, “outside my office”), so you can identify it in the Printer pop-up menu. |
Use | If this pop-up menu doesn’t display the appropriate software for the printer, choose Select Printer Software, then select your printer in the Printer Software list (HINT: Should be the Xerox Driver you just installed). If that list doesn’t include your printer, try downloading and installing the printer software (also called a printer driver) from the printer manufacturer. You can also try choosing generic printer software from the pop-up menu. |
When you want to PRINT a document, as soon as you press “Print”, the Printer Dialog box should query you with a request for a Print ID (you can find out what account to use by contacting aatech@uw.edu).
Use your assigned Print ID and leave the password field BLANK!
