Satisfactory Academic Progress
The Graduate School's policies surrounding satisfactory academic progress are detailed in Graduate School Memorandum 16.
Students in the MAE program must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and receive a minimum grade of 2.7 in each individual course. The department does not generally enforce academic probation until a student has been enrolled for three quarters unless the condition is caused by anomalies that require immediate corrective attention (e.g., a student receives a grade of 0.0 in a course).
At the conclusion of each quarter, the graduate advisor reviews the academic record of all students and makes recommendations to the faculty Graduate Program Coordinator. After review, students placed on warning, probation, final probation, or drop status will be notified via email. Failure to meet satisfactory progress requirements multiple times may result in being dropped from the program.
