Student Employees
Tutors
Space Grant Scholars can request tutors for any of their classes, although the most common needs are first and second year courses such as MATH and CHEM. Tutors commit to working 3 hours per week through the last week of classes. Student cannot receive tutoring during finals week. Hourly rate is $20.00 as of January 2023.
To Hire a Tutor:
Send out a general call on nasanet with the course number needed.
Send out to specific Space Granters and/or nasa-research if no responses on nasanet
Respond to interested tutors after checking their grade in the needed course (should have a 3.5 or above)
Contact A&A Payroll Coordinator to request tutor hire with student name, SID, and budget number. CC senior staff who have approval privileges to request for approval.
Once hire is approved, connect tutor with scholar who requested tutoring. Offer students AERB 241 or second floor meeting tables as a place to meet.
Student Assistants
Space Grant occasionally has other student assistant opportunities that can arise from new programs or a new grant cycle.
To Hire a Student Assistant:
Generate a job description. Previous job descriptions can be found in the Groups file location: NASA Space Grant > Staff Trainings, Certifications, CVs, Job Descriptions > Student Assistants
Send out a general call on nasanet that includes the Job Description
Send out to specific Space Granters and/or nasa-research if no responses on nasanet
Respond to interested students to schedule an informal interview (should have experience related to the program.
