Research Credits

2021-22 Undergraduate Research Credits Form (online form)

  • Should be used when signing up for A A 499* or A A 299*

    • A A 499 is intended for A&A junior & senior cohort students

    • A A 299 is intended for A&A sophomore cohort students (*DBF, SARP, AACT, SEDS participants should not use this form but instead contact their faculty advisor for instructions)

  • Information needed will include:

    • Name of A&A Faculty Supervisor

    • Title of Research Project

    • Description of Research Project (including responsibilities & deliverables)

    • Remote vs. In-Person Research

    • E-mail Confirmation from A&A Faculty Supervisor

Make sure to e-mail aeroadvising@uw.edu to let the adviser know you filled out the form.  E-mail confirmation will be sent once you are registered.

Getting paid for research? 

Based on the availability of faculty research funds and the faculty advisor's discretion, students are able to get paid for research.  Students are only able to get paid for research OR earn credits for research for the same hours.  However, you can get paid and earn credits if they are for different hours.

  • Example 1: You typically spend 10 hours/week participating in research.  You get paid for 10 hours/week - you are not eligible to earn research credits (paid only).

  • Example 2: You typically spend 10 hours/week participating in research.  You do not get paid - you are able to earn credit for 9 hours (3 credits) (research credit only).

  • Example 3: You typically spend 20 hours/week participating in research.  You get paid for 11 hours/week - you are able to earn credit for remaining 9 hours (3 credits) (paid + research credit).
