What is a student organization?

A student organization is a group of student who gather together because they share a common interest and purpose.  Some student organizations are social, while others are academic based.  No matter what, student organizations are student-led.

Why is it important to join a student organization?

It's important to be part of a community of individuals who share a common interest and purpose.  You start networking with these individuals and they are often become your life long friends and/or your future colleagues.

YES, the College of Engineering maintains a list of engineering affiliated student organizations.

How many student organizations should I join?

This depends upon how much time you are willing and able to commit.  It is typically recommended that students participate in one academic related student organization and in one social related student organization.  This will vary as some students many need to work more than others and/or have family responsibilities.
